Eastwood Elementary School opened it's doors in September, 1957 on forty-four acres of farm land that in the late 1800's was the Douglas County Fairgrounds. The school is located in the city of Roseburg, the seat of Douglas County. Eastwood has fifteen classrooms. Classes for music, special programs, counseling, and library/media provide support for Eastwood students.
In 2007, in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Eastwood, extensive refurbishment of the nature trail took place including benches, signage, and trail work. This was done in partnership with Project Leadership.
Today, Eastwood helps over 500 students from kindergarten through fifth grade. It provides wetlands, nature trails, a salmon hatchery, outdoor classrooms, and a replica of a Native American dwelling for it's students to explore. Eastwood's traditions in excellence are well known throughout the community.
